Common Questions

Heavy Duty Isolation Plug FAQ

What is the standard length?

It varies a little by line size. Plugs for 3/4" to 1-1/2" pipe are about 4" long, and most other plugs are about 8" long.

What length is the extended reach plug?

The standard extended reach is about 18", and we can manufacture any length you need.

What material is the seal made of?

USA Industries' proprietary urethane formula. If you need a different material, let us know and we'll make it if possible.

Is vent-through available?

Yes. We can build your plug with vent-through capability.

Can I order extra seals?

Yes. Just tell us how many you need.

Are these rated to hold back pressure?

No. This is an isolation plug, meant only for isolating your pipe. For pressure, see the GripSafe® ST ORB.

Are plugs available for different pipe schedules?

Yes. We stock plugs for schedule 40 and schedule 80 pipe, and can quickly provide plugs for any other schedule.

Can I rent or buy?

Both. Most customers prefer to rent, since it takes care of plug maintenance and storage. See rentals.
