What Is a Rod Out Tool?
A rod out tool threads onto a clogged valve and drives a drill bit through the blockage with a hand-turned shaft, all inside a sealed body. Personnel stay protected from process media, pressure, and hazardous vapors, so taps can be cleared during normal operations without a release.

Rod Out Tool FAQ
How do I use the rod out tool to clean my valves?
Thread the tool onto the valve, then turn the handle to the right continuously to safely clear clogged bleed, drain, vent, and instrument tap valves. See the steps above, and follow the operating manual.
Can I use an impact on the handle to work faster?
No. Turn the handle by hand only. An impact can damage the bleeder cleaner or the tap.
What bits are available?
Everlast and twist drill bits. Common twist sizes are 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 7/16", 1/2", and 3/4", and custom sizes are available.
Are the bit tips replaceable?
No. Bits are soldered in place permanently.
Can I get a bidirectional cable?
Yes. It's standard on 90° and 135° shafts and available on request for straight shafts.
Can you repair my existing rod out tools?
Yes. Send us your tools for inspection, and we'll evaluate and repair them as needed.
What temperature and pressure are they rated for?
Up to 1,000°F and 1,000 psig when used according to the operating manual.
